An inner desire burnt in me to do something which would be partly learning and partly experience widening and yet would not take a “lifetime” or render be “jobless” for the time I acquire them. The one year part-time executive Management Education Programme (eMEP) from Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikhode seemed to be the right choice. The journey has not even started. I just have been issued a ticket to travel. I promised myself that if I get a ticket then I would mumble my experience in a blog. Here I go keeping my promise to start with.
The test eMAT:
- On the lines of CAT but appears that it is not as tough; I have not appeared for CAT ever!
- Practice definitely helps – one needs to sort of warm up for a few weeks before the test else will feel the chill
The interview:
Expect the unexpected. The interview is a personality assessment of the candidate by the deans of the institute over video conference. I was interviewed by a two member panel comprising of a young and a senior faculty member for 20 minutes. The questions revolved around what I told about myself to start with. I was asked about my opinion on the resentment of localites to the influx of people from other states into Bangalore, specific details on the places I toured, description of ragas of carnatic music (I am a student of violin), opinion on making Sanskrit a compulsory language and so on. Now you know what one needs to “prepare” for the interview!
Close to 160 students all over India have been issued offer for admission. I am planning to accept the offer (read pay the first installment!) and confirm my ticket for the journey.
